How to get the job you want - part 1
Picture this: you wake up in the morning and don’t snooze your alarm. You feel content with how you know your day will go.
You look forward to your day because your job doesn’t suck.
Ever wonder if this is possible? I’m here to tell you that it is.
Take a moment and reflect on your ideal day in your life. Just a normal work day. What does that look like?
WRITE IT DOWN.
Did you know that writing goals down (or telling someone out loud) makes you more committed to them?
Now that you know what you’re working towards, let’s talk strategy.
Soo you just start applying to jobs, right?
Nooo, let’s take a few steps back!
Think about all your training, education, and experience - what are your top 5 strengths?
These can be soft skills like communication, interpersonal skills, etc. OR technical skills like project management, data analysis, graphic design.
Once you’ve identified your strengths, brainstorm future roles you would be interested in where you can leverage your strengths.
Now you can start looking for jobs!
It’s important to find jobs that align with your strengths.
This will boost your job satisfaction and have a positive impact on your well-being and work-life balance?
Why?
Because you will be more effective in roles where you can leverage your talents.
When you’re good at what you do, this makes work MEANINGFUL.
And meaningful work makes you HAPPY & ENGAGED.
That’s it, that is the first step - identify your strengths and find roles that align with your strengths.
This helps you narrow down your job search instead of rage applying to anything that ~sounds~ good.
It gives you a focus area.
